To all the incredible moms in our community—especially those living with spinal cord injuries - we celebrate your strength, ingenuity, and devotion.


Check out some great content by mothers who are sharing their journeys publicly to empower others with disabilities. Through their honesty, creativity, and experience, they’re helping redefine parenting while living with a disability.


Brittany | “Empowered Para”

Brittany—known online as Empowered Para—is a mother, social media influencer, and SCI survivor who’s helping new parents adapt with confidence. Her detailed video shares smart tips for diaper changes, bath time, lifting from the floor, feeding, and loading a baby into a vehicle—all from a seated position. Her mission? Helping others feel "healthier, happier, and awesome about themselves."

💡 Tip: Adapt your environment. Use cribs with side openings and strollers that attach to your wheelchair.

Yvette Eglington & Elise Kennedy

These two mothers open up about pregnancy, birth plans, medication changes, and adapting daily life with an SCI. Their candid conversations with Paraquad South Australia offer reassurance and practical guidance for women planning to become mothers after injury.

💡 Tip: Communicate openly with your medical team—planning around medications and mobility is key to a healthy pregnancy and postpartum experience.

May Heichel

May, a mom of two, shares how yoga and gentle movement have helped her manage pain after an incomplete spinal cord injury. Her video is a powerful reminder of the importance of self-care—even in the midst of parenting.
