About the Program
BACKBONES PeerConnect are monthly meetups for people in the spinal cord injury and disability (SCI/D) community looking to connect with their peers (this includes loved ones and health providers). Whether someone is many years post-injury or new to the community, PeerConnect offers a welcoming space to build relationships, share lived experiences, and learn from others navigating similar journeys.
Events are hosted virtually and in-person and create opportunities for open conversation on topics such as transportation, employment, social life, insurance, adaptive sports, travel, and more. Ultimately, PeerConnect aims to reduce isolation among individuals with SCI/D and foster mutual encouragement toward personal and professional goals.
