Event Description
Regaining independence through driving can be a major milestone after SCI/D. This session will explore the process of returning to driving, including licensing steps, adaptive driving equipment, training programs, and safety considerations. Participants will learn about available resources and gain practical tips for navigating the road with confidence, including how to prepare for unexpected situations or emergencies.

Nicole Thonn is an occupational therapist (OTR/L), certified driver rehabilitation specialist (CDRS), and certified driving instructor (CDI). Nicole is passionate about the driver rehabilitation field, since 2013. She is an AARP CarFit Instructor, "We Need to Talk" Facilitator, board member of the Lewis University OT program, and is currently serving on the board of our ADED Midwest Chapter. Nicole views being a part of someone's journey to become a driver again, or become a driver for the first time, a true privilege.
